Guidelines for Poster Presentations

Poster sessions combine the graphic display of materials with the opportunity for individualized, informal discussion of the presenter’s work throughout a 60-minute session. Individual poster presenters set up displays representing their papers in a large area with other presenters and may also provide brief handouts. At CIES 2017, poster sessions will be set up in a prominent hallway space and scheduled to overlap with coffee breaks so as to facilitate maximum interaction with poster presenters.

Set up

Please set up your display 15 minutes before the session is to begin.  The program will indicate the poster board number to which you have been assigned.  The presenting author should be present for the duration of the 60-minute session in order to speak with attendees and answer questions.  Since we have scheduled only one poster presentation per day, posters may be left on display up through 7pm each day; any materials left after that will be discarded.

Poster Specifications

The posterboard surface is made of cork and each poster will have an available space of 4′ high x 4′ wide.  Pushpin fasteners will be available.  We recommend that the paper title and authors’ names and affiliations appear at the top of your poster.  Remember that your poster will be viewed from a distance of several feet so font sizes should be large enough to easily read and figures and tables should be kept as simple as possible.  We also recommend that poster session presenters have copies of their papers (15-20) to distribute to interested parties.
